Origin countries may be requested for ingredients or raw materials to support supply chain transparency, sustainability due diligence, regulatory assessments and product-level risk analysis.
For higher-risk commodities, origin country data may be required. These may include commodities such as cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy and beef. For other ingredients or raw materials, origin data may be optional but can still improve analyses, assessments and supply chain transparency.
These commodities are often considered higher risk from a sustainability, deforestation, human rights or supply chain traceability perspective. Regulations and due diligence frameworks increasingly require companies to better understand where materials originate from and how they move through the supply chain.
