What if ingredient or raw material origins vary over time?

What to do if sourcing countries change due to seasonality, availability or supplier changes.

Ingredient or raw material origins may vary over time due to seasonal availability, sourcing changes, supplier changes or market conditions.

If origins vary, you may provide multiple possible origin countries where the field allows it. The data should reflect the most typical, current or reasonably expected sourcing situation for the product.

For higher-risk commodities, such as cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy or beef, suppliers should make reasonable efforts to provide the most accurate and up-to-date origin data available.

If exact origin data is not currently available, avoid misleading or overly broad origin claims. You can update the data later when more accurate data becomes available.
